TERMS
AND CONDITIONS
This document contains a summary of some of the
Rental Conditions. For full detailed Conditions refer to the Conditions
schedule in the Rental Agreement. Please note all prices quoted
in this document are in Australian Dollars.
Rates quoted in our brochures and / or documentation are subject
to change without notice.
RENTAL
DURATION
When calculating the number of days a vehicle
is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental,
regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle's return is
counted as the final day of the rental. When a rental moves from
one rate season into the next, the calculation is based on both
rates.
• Minimum rental period is 5 days. Minimum rental period
is subject to change during peak periods.
• Special rates are available for rentals of more than 90
days. Discounts available on application only .
• Late pick up or early return of vehicle does not entitle
the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.
Late
returns will be charged ona per day basis. Failure to obtain authorisation
for a rental extension will result in a daily fee
$134
in addition to the daily rate.
ONE
WAY RENTALS
One-way rentals are available between all branch
locations. A One-way rental fee of
$196 is charged for rentals between the North and South Island
(and vice versa), where pick up is between 01 November 2005
-
31 March 2006 and 01 November 2006 - 31 March 2007.
DIESEL
TAX RECOVERY FEE
The Diesel Tax Recovery fee will be calculated and collected on
return of your vehicle based on the kilometres travelled during
your hire.

AIRPORT
CONCESSION FEE - Queenstown
An airport concession fee may be charged for hires with pick-up
or drop-off from airport locations. An airport pick up fee of
$11 will
apply for all hires with pick up at Queenstown airport. This
surcharge
is payable to Britz directly upon collection of the vehicle.
WELLINGTON / QUEENSTOWN
Britz are able to accommodate pre-arranged pick-up and drop-offs
at our Wellington agency if required (on request only). For
all
pick-ups in Wellington / Queenstown a charge of
$89 will apply.
For all drop-offs in Wellington / Queenstown a charge of
$89 will apply.
Queenstown Fee is payable direct to the depot. As of 01 April
2006 the Wellington / Queenstown Fee will include Airport Concession
Fee of
$11 .
TRANSFER
Britz provides free airport to Branch and Branch
to airport transfer on day of arrival and departure for our Auckland
and Christchurch Branches. Queenstown Branch is located at the
Airport. The Wellington agency is located 40 minutes from the
airport and clients must find their own way to and from the branch,
at their own expense.
FOR
YOUR PROTECTION
New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage
for personal injury. We strongly recommend that all people travelling
in New Zealand take out Personal Travel Insurance.
All
vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property
of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first
$4,464 (“the excess”) of the cost of damage to Third Party
property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident,
windscreen and tyre damage, overhead and underbody damage, towing
and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also
includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle
is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage). The excess
applies in respect of each claim, not rental.
The
excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be
paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the
completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are
successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third
Party. Please note that Third Party Claims can take months to
resolve.Please see the ‘Exclusions’ section
below, whereby all Excess Reduction cover will be made void.
This
$4,464 excess can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase
of Excess Reduction Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option 2.

Premium
Cover Option (PCO)
Where PCO is taken out at a flat rate
$36
per rental in addition to Excess Reduction Option 2, the hirer
will not have to pay any excess at all for any damage to the vehicle
or property of a third party.

PCO is included in the Inclusive component.
BRITZ
STRONGLY RECOMMENDS OUR CUSTOMERS TO TAKE EXCESS REDUCTION OPTION
2 TO MINIMISE EXCESS EXPOSURE AND TRAVEL WITH PEACE OF MIND.
EXCLUSIONS:
1. Standard Excess, Excess Reduction Option 1
& 2 and PCO do not cover any water related damage, which includes
but is not limited to:
a) any vehicle submersion
b) creek or river crossing
c) driving through low plain flooded areas
d) beach driving
2. Personal belongings are not covered. We recommend the hirer
does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out
personal insurance.
3. All Excess Reduction is void if the terms of the Rental Agreement
are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost
of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by willful
misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of
the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
4. Standard Excess, Excess Reduction Option 1 & 2 and PCO
do not cover the incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol).
The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.
5. The Hirer will be responsible for the cost to retrieve or recover
a vehicle which has become bogged, regardless of the Excess Reduction
Package taken.
6. The hirer will be responsible for the cost to replace keys
which have become lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked
in a vehicle.
VEHICLE
SECURITY DEPOSIT
On pick up of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is payable.
The amount is determined by the Protection Package selected
(refer
to the “FOR YOUR PROTECTION” section). If you do
not take Excess Reduction Option 1 or Excess Reduction Option
2, the
Security Deposit is
$4,464 payable by cash, Traveller’s Cheques, or credit cards
(Diners Card not accepted). Should the Deposit be paid by credit
card, the amount will be
debited to your account immediately. Due to exchange rate fluctuations
there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared
to
the amount initially charged. Britz does not accept any liability
for variances up or down. Should the Deposit be paid by cash,
a cash qualification process will apply.
If
Excess Reduction Option 1 has been taken the Security Deposit
is
$1,339 payable by cash, Traveller's Cheques or credit card ( imprint
only).Should the Deposit be paid by cash, a cash qualification
process will apply.
If
Excess Reduction Option 2 has been taken the Security Deposit
is
$196 payable by cash, Traveller's Cheques or credit card. Should
the Deposit be paid by cash, a cash qualification process will
apply. If paid by credit card, authorisation will be gained.
The
Security Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned
on time, undamaged, with a clean interior and with full fuel tanks
(Fuel being petrol, diesel and LPG gas). We reserve the right
to retain a
$112 soiling fee if the vehicle is not returned with the interior
in a clean condition. The toilet and waste water tank (if
applicable) must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle,
or an additional
$112 soiling fee will be retained.
Except where the customer has purchased PGO and/or PFO, failure
to return the vehicle with full petrol, diesel and/or LPG tanks
will result in refill charges. Petrol, diesel and LPG gas refill
charges will be advised upon return of the vehicle. In the instance
of Excess Reduction Option 1 and Excess Reduction Option 2, the
credit card voucher will be returned to the hirer.
INFRINGEMENTS
We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any
speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and
/ or accidents including third party property damage not reported
on return of the vehicle.The
administration fee per fine will be
$54 .
EXCHANGE
RATE / CURRENCY VARIATIONS
All
credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand Dollars.Due
to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in
the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged.
Britz does not accept any liability for any variances up or down.
CREDIT
CARDS
If a credit card is presented as payment, the
credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer.
Preferred credit cards are Visa Card and Mastercard.
A
surcharge of 2% applies for payment by American Express.
LICENCE
A full resident country driver's licence, held
for a least one year, is to be presented at the time of rental.
If the licence is not in English format, an international drivers
licence is also required.
AGE
RESTRICTIONS
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over.
A medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive
the vehicle they have booked for the duration of the hire is required
for drivers over the age of 75.
MULTIPLE
RENTALS
Should a hirer have more than one rental (multiple
rentals) then these rentals can be combined to qualify the hirer
for our long term rate. Campervan and car rentals in Australia,
New Zealand and Southern Africa, for both Britz and Maui, can
be combined to qualify if travel is within a 3 month period.
e.g. One 14 day rental plus one 7 day rental qualifies for the
21 day rate.
For
pick ups and drop-offs on the same day, the daily rental charge
for the last day of the 1st rental will be charged, and the daily
charge for first day of the subsequent rental will not be charged.
This will also apply to the Excess Reduction charge.
The
One Way Fee (if applicable) and charges for additional hire equipment
(tables, chairs, baby seats) and additional extras (PGO, PCO etc)
will be charged per vehicle rented.
KITCHEN
KIT
The Kitchen Equipment (crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils) is
included in the daily rental rate at no extra cost.
CHANGE
OF DROP OFF DESTINATION
If the hirer wishes to change the drop off destination
after the rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorisation
from the Reservations Centre in Auckland. Subject to the change
being approved, an additional charge of
$446 may apply.
RENTAL
EXTENSION
If the hirer wishes to extend the rental whilst
on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from the Reservations
Centre in Auckland. This is subject to availability. The extra
cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the
telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure
to obtain authorisation will result in a fee of
$134 in addition to the daily rate.
ROAD
RESTRICTIONS
Motorhomes and can only be driven on sealed/bitumen
or well-maintained roads.
No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety
Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of
Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).
Britz
reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle
movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.
ON
ROAD ASSISTANCE
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including
equipment failure, must be reported to Britz as soon as possible,
and within 24 hours in order to give Britz the opportunity to
rectify the problem during the rental.Failure to do so will compromise
any claims for compensation. We do not accept liability for any
claims submitted after this period.

REPAIRS
Repairs up to
$89 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed.
For amounts over
$89 , Britz will need to be informed in advance.
Repairs will be approved provided the hirer was not directly responsible
for the damage.
Receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not
be paid.
CHANGE
OF VEHICLE
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through
unforeseen circumstances, Britz reserves the right to substitute
an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra
cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does
not entitle the hirer to a refund.
VEHICLE
CATEGORY
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle
category.
VOLUNTARY
DOWNGRADE
Should the hirer decide to take a smaller
vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.

IMPORTANT
Britz reserves the right to refuse any rental
at its discretion.
ANIMALS
No animals are permitted in our vehicles, excluding
guide dogs.
PERSONAL
AND COMPANY CHEQUES
Personal and Company cheques will not be accepted
as payment for rentals at the time of pick-up. These must be paid
to Britz 14 days prior to commencement of rentals. Personal or
Company cheques are not acceptable as the vehicle security deposit.
DISCLAIMER
Illustrations and text in any of our brochures
or website are a representation only of the vehicle depicted.
Variances in the vehicles offered for rental may occur due to
substitutions made by Britz or modifications and/or upgrades to
the vehicle design made by the manufacturer.
