WHAT IS THE STAR PACK?
The Star Pack is the simplest way to hire all the necessary items for your self-drive holiday.The Star Pack comes with: Unlimited Kilometres, One Way Rental Fee, Personal Kits, Kitchen Kit, LP Gas Refill Fee, Star RV Welcome Pack, Pre-Hire Cleaning Fees, Vehicle Consultation Fee, 24hr Roadside Assistance, Extra Driver Fees, Camp Chairs and Table, Camp Ground Guides, GPS, Baby or Booster Seats (on request for selected models)
Importantly the Star Pack offers Nil Liability, Unlimited Windscreen and Tyre cover for accidental damage. Without the Star Pack you may run the risk of being liable for significant costs associated with damage to, or theft of, the vehicle. This applies even if the damage is not your fault. For example, you are liable if someone runs into you or if a rock from a passing car hits your windscreen and causes damage. Also, you are responsible for the subsequent costs if you are unlucky enough to puncture a tyre.
IS A BOND REQUIRED?
Yes all Star RV rentals require a bond. A credit card can only be used to provide the bond and the credit card holder must be present on pick up as they are jointly liable.
HOW LONG DOES THE GAS PROVIDED IN THE STAR RV LAST?
Generally the gas will last between 1 – 2 weeks depending on your usage.
IS THERE A LIMIT WITH THE FREE GAS AND LINEN EXCHANGE?
You are welcome to fill up your vehicle’s gas bottles once every 14 days and exchange your linen (bedding, bath and tea towels) any time during your hire. Don’t forget we also offer our customers a free valet cleaning service. Just be sure to call Star RV 48 hours in advance to book your vehicle in.
CAN STAR RV'S VEHICLES PLAY MP3 /CD/ DO THEY HAVE AN IPOD DOCKING STATION?
Yes. All Star RV vehicles have an iPod Docking Station and also a CD player in the driver’s cabin which can play MP3 CDs.
WHAT IS SUPPLIED WITH THE VEHICLE?
Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary personal kit including:
bedding, cooking equipment eating and drinking utensils, bath and tea towels, dust pan and brush
Star RV also provides you with a complimentary first night pack containing:
matches, soap and toilet paper, dishwashing liquid and sponge, salt and pepper, coffee, tea and sugar sachets.
Star RV vehicles are also equipped with maps, campground guides and the Apollo Magazine.
IS THERE A SPARE TYRE AND WILL I BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT IF NEED TO?
Star RV vehicles come with a spare tyre and equipment needed in the event of a tyre change. We also have a roadside assistance number who can help to call should you have any questions or need help. Our helpful branch staff can answer any other questions that you might have when you pick up your RV.
ARE THE VHEICLES EASY TO DRIVE?
Yes! They may seem quite large but you will soon realise just how easy they are to drive. Rear vision cameras are installed in all Star RV vehicles making reversing and parking in the vehicle a simple process.
DO I NEED A SPECIAL LICENCE?
No. All drivers must show their open car driver's licence upon pickup. We accept interstate and overseas driver’s licences but they must be in English and legible to our branch staff.
WILL SOMEONE SHOW ME HOW TO USE EVERYTHING?
Yes. You will have a dedicated staff member take you on a personal tour of the vehicle when you arrive at the branch. They will ensure that you are familiar with all of the features before you leave.
WHAT ARE TOLL ROADS, AND DO I HAVE TO PAY TO USE THEM?
Toll roads are roads that charge you a fee for driving on them. It is likely you will pass through a toll road at some point on your self-drive holiday. You are responsible for paying toll fees, so it is important to be aware of these roads. It is a crime to evade paying tolls. You can pay your tolls at the toll providers’ website (which will be advertised on the toll road) within a day or two of travelling on the toll road. Alternatively Star RV can pay on your behalf and later bill you. Please be aware there is an administration fee added to the toll charge for this service.
DO YOU HAVE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SHOULD I HAVE A BREAKDOWN OR ACCIDENT?
Star RV provides a 24 hour roadside assistance phone line for your peace of mind. Please call Star RV’s toll free number at any time and ask for the Fleet Department in the unlikely event you have an accident or breakdown.
HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY SYSTEM LAST?
Your vehicle will be fully charged when you start your journey and should last 12 - 20 hours depending on use. Star RV’s ancillary battery system powers internal appliances such as the fridge, lights and water pump.
Batteries can be recharged by connecting to mains power at a powered campsite or by driving. Simply idling the engine will not recharge the battery. When you are connected to a powered site all the appliances and powered equipment will run of this power source rather than the battery.
The television, microwave, rear air-conditioning and power points will only run on mains power. The 12 Volt main switch must be in the 'on' position for it to work. All vehicles can be connected to 240 Volt mains power via the supplied 15 Amp extension lead with large earth pin. All approved caravan park circuits are 15 Amp.
